    Presidential Dollars at Local Bank

    FYI

My dear wife went to the bank today (metropolitan Detroit) and asked for a roll of the Presidential Dollars. The branch did not have them on hand but told her that they would order as many rolls as she wanted. She ordered one roll which will be at the branch on Tuesday.

Which means that bank's main office has them, and supplies its own branches.

At my local Wells Fargo they are taking names and numbers with a promise to "let you know when we have them".

I was able to pick my roll up today. All the tellers thought they looked like foil-wrapped candy coins. I think they look like toy coins for kids. The two end coins were touched and already have some discoloration. Many of the coins were bag marked.

I called my local bank this morning and they were nice enough to hold 5 rolls for me to pick up this afternoon. They had the rolls days ago, but were only able to release them today.

Ya'll need to get some friends at banks---my bank got them a few days ago and I got them back then---the teller said that even though they wern't released till today they had them and there was no reason why they couldn't.

    Speedy,

I know, I definitely need to get a few friends at the bank. I called and stopped by several of the branches earlier in the week, and could not convince anyone to hand them out early.

They are readily available at many banks in Massachusetts. Time will tell how long we see them however.

I was lucky the PNC teller gave them out on Wed the 14th

But I still always feel like I'm begging for coins from them

I ordered 4 rolls, and made a special out of the way type trip to get them only to be told that they had me down for 10 coins only (what a bunch of jerks!!) they gave me one roll and I got 2 others at another bank. The first bank said they would call me when they got they got more in. Pretty unprofessional for a bank, I mean if you are taking care of people's money you better be more professional.

i picked up four rolls today. from the $1000 box she had, after mine were gone, it looked as if there about 20 rolls left. as it turns out, she also is a collector of rolls. i have been at that bank for years, hung out with most of the tellers socially, as i work two buildings down from the bank, and have had many conversations with her and the other tellers about coins and just found this out today. i couldn't believe it.

Well, the U.S. Mint said the Washington dollars would be out to the general public today - Feb. 15, 2007.

Ha ! I went to several different banks and nobody had them yet. Some banks didn't even know there were new coins being released.

I guess I need to get out of this small town in California.
